Montefiore may be the place for them. With the tight job market, this type of work experience can distinguish a candidate looking to break into a professional field. Montefiore is offering six-week, 30-hour a week internships with a small stipend. Internships are a wonderful opportunity for college students to gain more experience in their interested field and possibly even a job after college. That was the case Akilah Porter for Beachwood High School graduate of 2009 and resident Akilah Porter. The summer of her senior year at Kent State University, Akilah applied for a marketing internship at Montefiore, despite her working toward a degree in news journalism with a concentration in magazine. She was accepted into the 6-week program and impressed her supervisor – Susan Lieberman, marketing director – so much so that Susan extended her internship by four additional weeks, leading up to the first day of classes. On her graduation day, two hours before she was going to walk the stage in her cap and gown, Akilah received a unexpected call from Susan asking her if she had a job lined up post-graduation and like many college graduates, Akilah submitted dozens of job applications but didn’t have any offers lined up. Susan offered her the position of Hospice care also available in your home Please call the hospice office at 216.910.2650 to see how we can help. One David N.
