Strike It Big for Milestones: Bowling for Autism
Milestones Autism Resources invites the entire community to its fourth annual bowling extravaganza, Strike It Big for Milestones – presented by Davis Automotive Group, on Sunday, April 10, from 10 am to 2 pm at Freeway Lanes of Solon (33185 Bainbridge Road, Solon) and Fairview Lanes (21847 Lorain Road, Fairview Park). In addition to bowling, the autism and family-friendly event includes food, face painting, balloon animals, a raffle, and an opportunity to learn more about autism. Proceeds directly support local families impacted by autism. Milestones Autism Resources is a nonprofit dedicated to educating, coaching, and connecting family members and professionals throughout Northeast Ohio affected by autism. Jewish Genealogy Programs
Choosing a Genealogy Program to Organize Data
Norman Henke, computer pioneer, is the featured speaker at the Sunday, March 6 meeting of the Jewish Genealogy Society of Cleveland. Henke will share his expertise on “Choosing a Genealogy Program to Organize Data.” With the recent announcement that Ancestry.com will no longer distribute Family Tree Maker, genealogy novices and experts are seeking advice on the program to use in the future. Henke will demonstrate the features of Roots Magic, Legacy and Reunion. He will share how these computer programs may be synced across portable devices. The Jewish Genealogy Society of Cleveland holds its winter meetings on Sundays, starting at 1:30 pm, in the Lelyveld Library of Anshe-Chesed Fairmount Temple, 23737 Fairmount Blvd. Board members are available from 1pm to assist with individual research questions. Workshop for Beginners
The Jewish Genealogy Society of Cleveland will offer a Workshop for Beginners on Monday, March 28, from 7 – 9 pm, in the Miller Board Room at Menorah Park, 27100 Cedar Road, Beachwood. Participants will learn how to search birth, marriage and census records and how free databases may be accessed with a library card and personal computer. Well-known genealogy experts, Ken Bravo and Cynthia Spikell, will serve as instructors for this interactive program. This workshop is free to paid-up Jewish Genealogy Society of Cleveland members and is $18 for non-members. Participants should bring a wifi-enabled laptop and Cuyahoga County Library card.
