Grey will discuss his memoir, Master of Ceremonies, at the Mandel JCC, 26001 S. Woodland Road, Beachwood, November 14 at 7:30 pm. This year’s festival, featuring 14 outstanding authors, is considered one of the premier Jewish book festivals in the country and runs from November 13 – 21. Grey began his career in theater at the age of 9, starring in children’s theatre and eventually making his way to the main stage. He is best known for his portrayal of the Master of Ceremonies in both the stage and film versions of the classic musical, Cabaret. For this role, he won Academy, Tony and Golden Globe awards. In his memoir, Grey tells the remarkable story of his life in and out of the spotlight. Despite a career filled with show-stopping numbers and larger-than-life stars, Master of Ceremonies is also the portrait of an artist’s coming to terms with his evolving identity and achieving personal and professional success. Mandel JCC Cleveland Jewish Book Festival is presented in partnership with Cuyahoga County Public Library and with generous support from The Henry and Eugenia Green Family Foundation. Sponsors for the Joel Grey event include Iris Bialosky Zahler Lecture Series at the Mandel JCC and Friends of Jewish Lifelong Learning.
