Ellie’s, a New Restaurant and Party Center ometimes a series of events sends you a sign to start something new. That’s what happened when Beachwood residents Brian, Jim, and Linda Ross decided to open Ellie’s, a restaurant and party center, serving Kosher smoothies, ice cream, caramel popcorn, cotton candy, chocolate covered pretzels, Belgium waffles and candy trays. “We’ve been in the party business for 24 years,” Linda explained, “and wanted a permanent location where people could have parties on-site. “When Chocolate Emporium went out of business, we received three phone calls, all suggesting we think about occupying that space and opening a restaurant,” she added. “We had other personal circumstances going on in our lives, and recognized when one door closes, another one opens.” Operating under “A World of Magic,” providing characters, bounce houses, carnival games, casino games, and entertainment, the Rosses bounced on the opportunity of taking over the S suggested space at the corner of Cedar and Green Roads. “We can now customize birthday, anniversary, and other parties, accommodating up to 50 attendees on site,” Jim said. “We’ve always taken equipment to other locations, which we will still do, but this makes for convenient alternative way to plan a party.” In addition to working at parties, the Rosses cater corporate, non-profit and personal events. Our specialty waffles are a big hit,” Linda told us. “We offer flavors, including apple pie a-la mode and lemon meringue, and fruit-topped and breakfast waffles.” Linda, Jim, and their son, Brian, are hands-on owners with years of combined experience in the industry. Linda has culinary and party experience; Jim has party experience; and Brian, a fireman by trade, has 10 years’ experience in the restaurant business. When asked about themes, they plan to host candy-making, magic, craft, princess tea parties – and whatever customers dream Pictured from left: Jim, Linda and Brian Ross. up. They will also host feature nights for those who dine at Ellie’s, with balloon twisters, magicians, and other characters or entertainers. A college ID night is in the works, too. “Ellie’s a good blend for our family,” Linda said. “We are excited to fill a gap so desperately needed in our community. We have a good time working together, and that’s why it works.” “Ellie’s appeals to everyone,” Jim added. “We offer good food in a good atmosphere at a good location. Dairy-free, vegan, nut-free and sugar-free items are also available, and Kosher items meet dietary requirements of Cholov Israel. Parking is available behind the building, and items are available for dining in or carry out. Ellie’s is located at 14486 Cedar Road. For more information, call 216.381.5577.
