ith the Beachwood wrestling program in a period of transition, Beachwood director of athletics Ryan Peters, a former Bison wrestler and coach, turned to his former coach and mentor, Pete Cimoroni, to rebuild the program. The Bison finished among the top 15 Division III teams in the Ohio High School Athletic Association state wrestling tournament four straight seasons and the wrestling team at Beachwood is the school’s most storied program, dating back to the 1970’s. But recent graduation losses leave the program with low numbers and limited experience. “I am very excited about having Pete on our staff,” Peters said. “He’s a lifelong resident of Beachwood, and his passion and love for the community, the kids and the wrestling program are the main reasons we hired him. Pete has all the necessary skills to help rebuild the program. He is an unbelievable teacher and motivator who will help each wrestler meet his potential. I am very confident Pete will put together a fantastic staff that will help lead our wrestlers to the highest levels of success.” Cimoroni first joined the Bison
program as an assistant shortly after ending his wrestling career at Dayton and earning his Master’s Degree at John Carroll University. He quickly developed into Head Coach Domenick Iammarino’s right hand man. He returned to Beachwood in 1987, this time as the head coach of a one-man wrestling team. He recruited 23-25 kids who built a buzz around the schools about Beachwood wrestling. Cimoroni recognizes that wrestling isn’t a four-year activity – it’s a pathway to success, which is why he’s already building the middle- and high-school programs. “Cimoroni is building excitement,” Peters told us. “He’s also reestablishing relationships with alumni, which will have a huge impact on the success of current wrestlers, creating a sense of family.” Cimoroni and his inner circle of fellow wrestlers and coaches are all committed to the same goal – to ensure that the wrestling program remains a beacon of pride for our community. Cimoroni is CEO and president of an advertising firm and co-founder of the Wrestlers in Business Network.
