Happy Father's Day!
The Paradoxical Commandments
by Dr. Kent M. Keith
People are illogical, unreasonable, and self-centered.
Love them anyway.
If you do good, people will accuse you of selfish ulterior motives.
Do good anyway.
If you are successful, you will win false friends and true enemies.
Succeed anyway.
The good you do today will be forgotten tomorrow.
Do good anyway.
Honesty and frankness make you vulnerable.
Be honest and frank anyway.
The biggest men and women with the biggest ideas can be shot
down by the smallest men and women with the smallest minds.
Think big anyway.
People favor underdogs but follow only top dogs.
Fight for a few underdogs anyway.
What you spend years building may be destroyed overnight.
Build anyway.
People really need help but may attack you if you do help them.
Help people anyway.
Give the world the best you have and you'll get kicked in
the teeth.
Give the world the best you have anyway.
O
n Thursday, May 5, the Beachwood Chamber of Commerce
held its 6th Annual Beachwood Chamber Awards program at
the Embassy Suites-Beachwood at which Citizen, Business and
Civic Organization of the Year were recognized. I was honored when
Beachwood Buzz was selected as one of the top-three businesses, and
truly surprised, humbled and even more honored to have been named
the Beachwood Chamber of Commerce 2016 Business of the Year.
When Beachwood Buzz was created in 1996, I joined the BCC to establish credibility. As time lapsed, I
recognized that the chamber offers so much more than credibility by association. The contacts I've made
and relationships I've built have been significant, on both business and personal levels and the more
active I've become, the more value I receive.
The BCC offers numerous networking opportunities throughout the year at which I regularly see familiar
faces and meet new people. Networking After 5, monthly luncheons, a fitness challenge, B2B show, golf out-
ing and Taste of Beachwood are some
of the events that provide opportunities
to network with area professionals.
Additionally, there are benefits tied to
products and services.
When working on committees and
participating as board secretary, I ben-
efit even more by getting to know the
inner workings of the organization.
I am grateful that I really love
publishing this magazine each month.
Since this column is generally used
to share something motivational
or inspirational, and I believe in the
law of attraction and that a positive
attitude goes a long way, I share "The
Paradoxical Commandments," by Dr.
Kent M. Keith, which can apply on both
business and personal levels.
Again, I thank the BCC for selecting
Beachwood Buzz as its 2016 Business
of the Year. I also thank my business
partners, the City of Beachwood, Beach-
wood City Schools, advertisers and all
of you who read the Buzz and support
our advertisers. It's because of all of
your continued support that Beach-
wood Buzz will celebrate its 20-year
anniversary in October.
Congratulations to Rosemary
Nemeth, Citizen of the Year; to the
Mandel Jewish Community Center,
Civic Organization of the Year; and to
all of this year's finalists. Beachwood is
a great community and I'm proud to be
associated with all of you!
I was honored when
Beachwood Buzz was
selected as one of the
top-three businesses, and
truly surprised, humbled
and even more honored
to have been named the
Beachwood Chamber of
Commerce 2016 Business
of the Year.
