City of Beachwood Holds Intergenerational Event D T he City of Beachwood recently held an annual intergenerational event with Bryden Elementary School kindergartners and Beachwood’s Happy Hookers, a group of seniors that knits and crochets for Cleveland’s needy. This year, the group donated more than 1,500 hat and scarf sets, sweaters and lap robes to area schools and organizations. The seniors and students worked cooperatively on a giant snowman craft project and enjoyed a special snack together. Since all materials to the Happy Hookers are donated, students in Debra Rubenstein’s kindergarten class did extra chores around the house to earn money to purchase yarn that was donated to the organization. As a thank you, the Happy Hookers presented each of the 18 students with a specially-made hat and scarf set.
