Start Your New Year on the Right Foot and Register for the Fight for Air Climb raining for the Fight-For-Air Climb is an ideal first step to take in becoming healthy during the New Year. The American Lung Association is holding its 5th Annual FightFor-Air Climb in Cleveland, and is looking for individuals to help them in their fight for clean air. On Saturday, March 7, climbers, walkers, runners, firemen and supporters of the American Lung Association will climb Terminal Tower in downtown Cleveland. Participants will challenge themselves to climb 42 flights of stairs – 804 steps – while raising money to help support the ALA mission of promoting lung health and preventing lung disease in Northeast Ohio. The day’s climb festivities begin with registration at 8 a.m. Among the participants will be firefighters in full gear competing in the Firefighters Challenge, competitive climbers and those climbing at their own pace. All activities, including an after party, sponsored by the Lincoln Tap House, will take place at the Terminal Tower, 50 Public Square. Registration for the Fight-for-Air Climb is $25. In addition, participants must raise a minimum of $100 and can qualify for a variety of incentive prizes based on the amount of money they raise. For residents of Koinonia, a group of facilities for disabled adults, National Council of Jewish Women’s (NCJW’s) knitters put together a lot of stitches to save residents from the winter chills when the knitters answered the call for ponchos. Dig-Knitty, established five years ago, enlists the talents of NCJW members who knit everything from teddy bears, for children to hold and love when undergoing unpleasant hospital testing, to blankets, mittens, hats and scarves. To date, the group has created 10 ponchos and recently distributed 92 bags of Dig-Knitty goods to JFSA clients, and children and adults at places such as Bellefaire and MetroHealth. Beachwood knitters include: Elva Aronstein, Janet Jacobson, Shelia Kleinman, Sharon Kreindel, Sandy Levine, Phyllis Levine, Marjorie Neuger, Ilene Nolish and Isabel Parks. This is Fordham’s second A-10 title in men’s soccer, with the first being in 1996. Granot is a junior midfielder/forward who came back from a back injury sustained during his sophomore year, in which he started in all 17 games for the Rams. He attempted 12 shots, three of which landed on goal; and was named to the Atlantic 10 Commissioner’s Honor Roll. As a freshman, Granot appeared in all 17 games and was named to the Atlantic 10 Commissioner’s Honor Roll. Prior to attending Fordham, Granot played for Hawken and was ranked 68th nationally on ESPN Rise’s Top 150 list. He was named First Team All-Ohio in 2010 and 2011 at the Hawken School, was part of the US Olympic Development Program for four years and played with the Denmark National Team (U-15, U-16, U-18). He participated in both the Brad Friedel Soccer Academy and the Columbus Crew Soccer Academy, where he was the top scorer, and was cited as a two-time All American in 2007 and 2008 by US Youth Soccer.
