Orson Welles Impersonator to Make Guest Appearance at Beachwood Elderclass
ark Sebastian Jordan has been an active presence on the Ohio arts scene for 30 years as a writer, actor, director, playwright, poet and improv comedian. As a living history performer, Jordan will portray Orson Welles for the next Beachwood Elderclass program on Thursday, April 9. Although Welles is perhaps remembered best for the movies,"Citizen Kane” and "The Third Man," his "War of the Worlds" frightening radio broadcast remains an epic. Jordan has been featured in numerous TV programs and appeared as an extra in the classic movie, "The Shawshank Redemption." He lives at Malabar Farm State Park in Lucas, Ohio, where he runs the Hostelling International hostel. His Malabar Trilogy of historical dramas was featured in sell-out performances for a decade at Malabar Farm State Park. The community is invited to attend Mark Jordan's impersonation of Orson Welles, whose numerous quotable quotes include, "Popularity should be no scale for the election of politicians. If it would depend on popularity, Donald Duck and The Muppets would take seats in the Senate." Sponsored by the Beachwood Board of Education, Elderclass affords residents an opportunity for learning and entertainment in a high school environment. Excellent lunches, catered by the vocational culinary arts class, are $5 for Beachwood residents and $8 for non-residents, if space is available. Programs in the new community room are free and open to the public. Elderclass coordinator Mort Biel reminds attendees that lunch will be served in the Beachwood Bistro at noon, with the program to follow at 1 p.m. in the adjacent community room. A bus will begin pickups going from the northeast corner of the parking lot to the front entrance beginning at 11:15 a.m. and ending at noon. The bus will return you to your car following the program. Please register for the lunch by using the flyer you will receive in the mail. If you are not registered to receive Elderclass monthly program flyers, please contact Marlene Dunger at the Beachwood Board of Education, 216.464.2600. Reservations will be accepted by mail only. No walk-ins for lunch. No reservations needed for the program only.
