Words from the Ward
t was great hearing from Judge Michael Astrab at our March meeting. He spoke with us about the scourge of heroin and reminded us the typical heroin user is not who you think it is. The featured speaker April 14 is Cuyahoga County Democratic Party Executive Director Nick Martin, who will share his wisdoms and insights into the election process and the GOTV efforts of the party, efforts that are second to none. Remember, it was Cuyahoga County that decided the Presidential election in 2012. Nick will also let us know about what the party has in store for the upcoming election cycle. Our May 12 meeting will cover a topic everyone will be talking about as we get closer to the November election, the legalization of marijuana. Ian James from Responsible Ohio will address us. He is part of the effort to get a marijuana initiative on the ballot and then to get voters to vote for it. Another topic discussed at the May meeting will be the club’s charter and the changes members are making to bring it up to date. We will also take nominations from the floor for our slate of officers and continue our discussions on endorsement procedures for local elections. Each month we see a few new members join us and become part of the process; will you be our next member? Our next meeting, April 14, at 7 p.m. in Council Chambers, is free and open to all Democrats.
