Beachwood Mathletes Dominate Local Contests
Twelve teams comprising 42 Beachwood students in grades 5-8 graders took the top honors at the recently-held Greater Cleveland Council of Teachers of Mathematics math contest. Two fifth-grade teams, a sixth-grade team, and all five seventh- and eighth-grade teams took home medals, including first-place awards in both seventh and eighth grades. Beachwood teams competed against mostly private, independent and parochial school students. Students in both competitions completed team and individual events that comprised problem-solving, mental math, applications and a construction activity.
