Each student picked a person to emulate, wrote an essay, memorized his/ her speech in both English and Hebrew, and organized props and costumes. The night of the Wax Museum, the students transformed, appearing in character as “wax statues” as they talked about their person in both English and Hebrew. This year’s theme was “Jews of Stature.” Nathan Lurie, a 4th grade student from Beachwood, selected Browns offensive tackle, Mitchell Schwartz, as his famous Jew. When Mitchell was contacted, he agreed to not only answer Nathan’s questions, which enriched his Wax Museum presentation, but also agreed to visit Gross Schechter for a question and answer session with the students. Thanks to this visit, the Wax Museum truly came to life!
