During the day, both Anita and Marv realized that their late spouses had performed together, with Sue playing piano and Jerry, an admirer of Frank Sinatra, singing. “They performed at Fairmount Temple, Beachwood High School and Deak Lodge,” Anita told us. “They used to practice together and perform variety-show music.” Although Anita and Marv (both of whom admit they can't carry a tune) attended these performances, they didn't go together and had never communicated. Additionally, Heidi, who was a cheerleader with Amy and in choir with Laurel, had been at the Hirsch's house numerous times; and Marv, who served on the Beachwood Board of Education School Board when Amy graduated, may have presented her with her diploma. (Anita didn't support him when he first ran, but did support him for his second term.) Other connections are: Anita's birthday is the same day as Marv's mother’s; Steven's birthday is the same day as Brett's (Laurel's son); Amy eventually bought Sue's parents' former house on Glenhill; when Sue's parents sold this home, their realtor was Herb Cohen, Anita’s employer; and Anita and Marv both have sisters named Shirley. Anita and Marv have been together since that first date and when they became engaged, Beachwood was buzzing! They were married on Marv's 75th birthday, just a few days shy of a year from when they met, and their dressed-up collective 11 grandchildren were the bridal party. The wedding ceremony was at Embassy Suites in Beachwood, with the service performed by Rabbi Joel Chazin, Montefiore’s chaplain. This is truly a fun-loving hometown love story!
