"FED UP"
Free Movie Screening
C
leveland Clinic invites the community to attend a free screen-
ing of "FED UP" with Mark Hyman, MD.
Join Mark Hyman, MD, director of Cleveland Clinic's Center
for Functional Medicine and nine-time New York Times best-selling
author, at a screening of the movie "FED UP."
Upending the conventional wisdom of why we gain weight and
how to lose it, "FED UP" unearths the dirty little secret that the food
industry doesn't want you to know -- far more of us are sick from
what we eat than anyone has ever realized.
Dr. Hyman will share his thoughts, answer questions, and invite you
to join the Fed Up Challenge.
For more information on the new Center for Functional Medicine,
visit www.clevelandclinic.org/functionalmedicine.
Screening dates are Thursday, October 23, 5:30 - 7:30 p.m., Lynd-
hurst Campus and Monday, November 10, 5:30 - 7:30 pm, Twinsburg
Family Health Center. To register for this free event, visit www. cleve-
landclinic.org/clmevents or call 877.331.9355.
Helping Beachwood
Residents Achieve
Optimal Health
O
ptimal Health is being at your best physically, emotionally,
socially, spiritually, and intellectually, regardless of the presence
or absence of disease. Unfortunately, we face many barriers to
maintaining optimal health, including: longer workweeks, fast-paced
lifestyles, uncontrolled stress, limited physical activity and unhealthy
eating habits. The result is four chronic diseases--heart disease, cancer,
stroke, and diabetes, which cause almost two-thirds of all deaths each
year, and chronic diseases account for 75% of the money our nation
spends on healthcare. (Forbes, 2013).
hChoices, a division of Web Wise Seniors, and the City of Beachwood
believe that thee small choices we make every day can significantly im-
pact our future, so we have partnered together to install a health-and-
wellness kiosk at the Beachwood Community Center. The kiosk enables
residents to monitor and securely track their basic health numbers,
including blood pressure, blood oxygen level, pulse, and weight. In
addition to the health monitoring, the kiosk provides healthy recipes,
motivational quotes and wellness presentations. It also functions as a
digital bulletin board to publicize Beachwood activities and services.
hChoices' mission is optimal health through technology, education
and social engagement. The hChoices' wellness kiosk features:
· Onsite health monitoring with secure tracking
· Touch screen interface
· Live and onDemand educational programming
· Wellness challenges with anonymous leaderboard
· Offsite access from any Internet ready device
Comfort Keepers is the first of five sponsors who will ensure a free
program for Beachwood residents. If you are interested in becoming a
sponsor or would like to discuss having a kiosk onsite for your employ-
ees, please contact Steve Pelton at steve.pelton@hchoices.com. We are
challenged to take personal responsibility to maintain our health and
retain our independence. To learn more, go to hChoices.com or visit the
Beachwood Community Center.
