Welcome Home
Veterans Event
O
n August 7, Park East Center held an
event, Welcome Home Veterans, to
celebrate veteran residents and to
dedicate its veteran unit that opened last
spring.
Dorinda Robinson, an Army Veteran and
Park East Center MDS coordinator, welcomed
attendees and opened the event. Her intro-
duction was followed by Ty Pannel, a Marine
Corps veteran from Vitas Hospice, who gave a
heartwarming welcome home speech. Mayor
Merle S. Gorden presented Park East Center
with a proclamation recognizing this day as
"Park East Center We Honor Veterans Ded-
icated Veteran Unit Day."
Following a ribbon-cutting ceremony led
by Mayor Merle S. Gorden, Administrator
Angela Rose and Admissions Director Julie
Lewis, each veteran walked the red carpet
into the new unit. Chaplin Theodore Wilson
of Crossroads Hospice announced each
veteran's name, and Mayor Merle S. Gorden
presented each with a certificate of apprecia-
tion for their service. Attendees then enjoyed
tours and light refreshments to honor our
Veterans.
