It's never too soon to start planning.
Many of us have a clear vision of our retirement years.
Yet, a surprising number of people have no idea how they'll
turn that vision into reality. We have to ask ourselves...
· How will I get an Ice Cream Cone?
· Who will I have lunch with?
· Who will change my light bulbs?
Effective planning must be about more than fi nancial
security. The new face of retirement planning must go
beyond money, and adopt an integrated and holistic approach
to helping people to live longer and live well.
LIFE WELL PLANNED.

Your Teen Magazine Offers
Free ADHD Panel Discussion
for Parents
"
I can't find my homework. Where's my backpack?" "I missed the
bus!" Those moments can test our patience and illicit unintended
anger and blame for parents of children with ADHD. According to
Dr. Michael Manos, head of the Center for Pediatric Behavioral Health at
Cleveland Clinic, "Be patient and discern what is within your teenager's
ability to control and what is not."
Sometimes what looks like noncompliance and refusal is really the
teenager's inability to manage something. Being required to keep track
of many different items as they go from class to class, for example, can be
like asking a star sprinter to also be a star marathon runner.
Raising a teen with ADHD requires parents to help their student figure
out ways to get and stay organized.
But how can you do that? "Change the world around them," says
Manos. In other words, stop worrying about "fixing" your kids, but rather
find routines that help them to be successful at school and beyond.
Manos and other panelists will offer specific ways parents can do that
at The Disorganized Student, a free panel discussion by Your Teen Maga-
zine on November 5 at Notre Dame College in South Euclid, Ohio.
Panelists will discuss what kinds of support needed by an adolescent
with ADHD, as well as specific techniques parents can try at home.
Attendees will also have the opportunity to ask their own questions of
panelists.
