2014 is Your Year
For Transformation
After 20 years of teaching and managing group fitness at
Cleveland's largest fitness clubs, I opened Barre Cleveland,
a female-only, spa-like, sparkling-clean fitness studio
where I teach the BarreFit Format.
BarreFit is a combination of targeted exercises using your own
body weight, small equipment and the ballet barre to produce
dramatic changes in your physique in as little as a few weeks.
These 60-minute, mixed-level classes are taught to women
of all ages in groups not to exceed 20 participants.
Class choreography is changed weekly to continually
challenge you, while working on different muscle groups,
building on your previous week's progress,

Menorah Park Receives Two Awards from LeadingAge Ohio
M
enorah Park recently ac-
cepted two awards from
LeadingAge Ohio one
for its Observation Stay Advocacy
program and the other for its Aging
Resources Center.
Menorah Park put together a
campaign to highlight problems
created for older adults because
of `observation stay' requirements,
where seniors were having to pay
out-of-pocket expenses because
hospitals were keeping them for
overnight observation for up to
three days, which kept Medicare
from kicking in for coverage.
Menorah Park pulled together a
local, state and national group to
highlight the problem through a
campaign and to champion federal
legislation to correct it, utilizing a
new grassroots approach to the
issue and legislation.
In response to research showing
a void for seniors for interactive,
usable information, Menorah
Park created the Aging Resourc-
es Center (ARC), which shares
community and campus news,
calendar events, and informational
resources through direct contact,
any electronic system and a series
of programs. As a result, more el-
derly people and their families are
being reached and engaged.

vo and Menorah Park Administrator Richard Schwalberg accept a
LeadingAge Ohio award for social commitment for Observation Stay
Advocacy, acknowledging tireless efforts to advocate on behalf of se-
niors in the community. (Not photographed: Beth Silver, Government
Relations Committee Staff Leader.)
Sherry Gavanditti, Menorah Park communications and media special-
ist, and Beth Silver, aging resources director and Menorah Park public
relations director, accept a LeadingAge Ohio award for Organizational
Excellence in Corporate Communications for the comprehensive work
that provides access to information for seniors and their loved ones
through the Menorah Park Aging Resources Center. (Not pictured: Dr.
Howard Epstein, Board Chair of the Aging Resources Center).
"Our commitment to our
community resonates,"
