1996
n
City of Beachwood introduced
Senior Police Academy to
educate senior adults.
n
Beachwood Schools Foundation
was created.
1997
n
City passed legislation to
decrease municipal income taxes
to residents who work outside
of the city by increasing the
residential tax credit to 100%.
1998
n
City Hall 15-20 year master plan
was designed.
n
Senior Transportation Program
was implemented.
n
Fairmount Elementary School
and the Beachwood Board
of Education opened its new
building.
n
City hired a certified arborist.
1999
n
City installed the first-in-Ohio
Reverse 911 System.
n
City entered agreement with
Beachwood Chamber of
Commerce to focus on economic
development.
n
Beachwood Buzz started
publishing City Council Update
and You and Your Schools.
2000
n
E-Copp (Children's On-Line
Protection Program) was
developed by the Beachwood
Police Department.
n
City Park West was developed.
n
Nordstrom came to Beachwood
Place.
n
City spearheaded and
implemented a multi-community
bike route.
n
Beachwood Post Office was
designated as the Larry Small
Post Office Building.
n
City installed new playgrounds
on Fairmount Blvd.
2001
n
Eight new tournament-style
tennis courts were built.
n
Beachwood Arts Council held
its last show, titled "Celebrate!
Honoring Our Past, Looking to
Our Future," in the Beachwood
Center for the Arts building.

Fire Department #1 was
completed.
n
City added a pre-school play
system to the playground in
front of the outdoor pool.
