yarn wrapped trees To herald the return of artist legend Peter Max in October, we are adding a little color to Fairmount Boulevard trees with brightly colored yarn. This installation art is part of the City’s Centennial Celebration. Fifty yarn-wrapped trees from City Hall to the freeway are on display thru November. Peter Max designed a special commemorative beech tree painting that he will gift to the City on October 24th at 5:30 p.m. in the Beachwood Community Center. the yarn will be removed, cut into pieces and placed in a wooden area of the city park for birds and small animals to use for nesting materials. This event will feature dignitaries, local veterans, presentation of the colors and guided tours. The Beachwood Cemetery, located near the corner of Green and Halburton Roads, is the final resting place of over 40 soldiers. This free eight-week program under the direction of Lt. Tom wetzel provided a first-hand opportunity for seniors to learn about law enforcement. Participants studied real-life crime prevention techniques pertaining to the cares and needs of today’s senior citizens. Topics included self-defense, CPR, personal safety and how to help family, friends, neighbors and yourself.
