"Cuyahoga County OHGenWeb" Presentation at Menorah Park
The October meeting of the Jewish Genealogy Society of Cleveland will feature an in-depth demonstration of the newly-remodeled Cuyahoga County GenWeb site with a multitude of links and instructions for researchers of local history. The meeting will be held Wednesday, Oct. 7, starting at 7:30 pm, in the Miller Board Room at Menorah Park. Guest speakers Laura Hine and Cynthia Turk, collaborators on the Cuyahoga County GenWeb project, will share their insights on resources available to local researchers. Turk, who attained her credential of "Certified Genealogist" through the board for Certification of Genealogists, was recently elected president of the Lake County (Ohio) Genealogical Society for a third non-consecutive term. She is also a member of the National Genealogical Society and Association of Professional Genealogists. Also an accomplished genealogist, Hine is active on the Cuyahoga County Rootsweb Mailing List and devotes much of her time to offering advice and pointing researchers in the right direction on Facebook. She has successfully traced her own ancestors back to the 1600's in Germany, Poland, Prussia and Italy. The program is free and open to the public. Board members will be available at 7 pm to respond to questions and research issues.
