Menorah Park Receives Award for Excellence in Service Menorah Park’s Bikur Cholim service was recently chosen for Excellence in Service by LeadingAge Ohio. The Bikur Cholim Program at Menorah Park was developed to enhance the spiritual well-being of residents by ensuring that religiously observant residents and family members have their own dedicated space and programming specifically designed to meet their needs. In order to fully ensure the well-being of their elders, family obstacles and challenges are addressed so families may remain close with loved ones, especially as end-of-life approaches. Menorah Park is the first nursing home to develop a program where space is used creatively to reflect Judaism’s priority for prayer, rest, and privacy for Mitzvah Bikur Cholim, the most difficult times. Families who travel distances to be with their loved one find the Bikur Cholim program a welcoming opportunity for substantial and meaningful visits without leaving the campus. “This room is available to anyone, Jewish or not,” said Stone Gardens Administrator Ross Wilkoff. “But it will be especially significant for observant family members, especially those from out-of-town who need access to the essentials of religious life while visiting with their loved ones. Our goal is to best support the needs of our entire community.” News from the Federation The 2016 Campaign for Jewish Needs has launched and the community is invited to attend the following campaign events.
