The Beachwood High School American Sign Language classes and the ASL Club, under the direction
of ASL teacher, Sharon Wiseman, organized their 11th annual Holiday Party for the Deaf/Hard of
Hearing community in Northeast Ohio. Nearly 500 people attend the annual event. Sponsors and
donors generously provided the food and prizes enjoyed by all. Attendees enjoyed games, face
painting, dancing and music. The celebration included individuals and families of all ages, happy to
be together and celebrate the holidays.
Bryden Kindergartners spent a morning with members of Beachwood's
Happy Hookers. The Happy Hookers, a volunteer knitting group, are on
schedule to knit 1,500 hats and scarves to donate this year. The Bryden
students and knitters share a snack, do a craft together and the students
bring yarn for the members to use for their knitting projects. This annual
get together is one of the highlights of the year for both the students and
the Happy Hookers!
Beachwood Schools Orchestra, under the direction of teachers Lisa Goldman
and Noel DeViney, has been very busy this holiday season! An ensemble
of BMS Orchestra members performed during the intermission of the annual
Cleveland POPS Holiday Family Concert. The following week, a BHS Orchestra
ensemble performed pre-concert at Severance Hall prior to the Orchestra's
Violins of Hope Educational Concert. The District is proud of the students
who participated in these two prestigious opportunities.
