There's been much talk about building
walls to try to protect borders. Beachwood
is lucky to border eight great communities.
Each neighboring community is unique,
and each brings special qualities to the
region. This year, as part of our Speaker Se-
ries, we will hear from the mayors of these
neighboring communities. They say good
fences make good neighbors. I disagree. I
say good dialogue makes good neighbors.
Come out and talk with the mayors of our
neighboring suburbs at our Speaker Series
2016. We kick off the Speaker Series Tue-
aday, Jan. 12, 7:30 pm, at the Beachwood
Public Library. Our first guest speaker is
Orange Mayor Kathy Mulcahy.
A regular meeting will follow and we can
expect to hear from a variety of candi-
dates seeking your vote in the upcoming
election.

As always, I am Beachwood Democratic
Ward Club President Steve Rosen, and I
approve this message.
Gabe Stern, a Beachwood Middle School 8th
grader, was so inspired by the October 2015
Beachwood Buzz edition that he created a
piece of original art to gift to Peter Max. Con-
gratulations, Gabe, on a job well done!

BCC Gives Back at December Luncheon
The Beachwood Chamber of Commerce's December luncheon was as a give-back event, and A
Kid Again, InMotion and The Gathering Place were selected as recipients.
"As a group, we feel grateful for individual successes and recognize the importance of not-for-prof-
it organizations and how they benefit our community," said BCC Executive Director Cindy Caldwell.
"That's why we chose to give back, and spread the holiday spirit."
The organization's membership was encouraged to make contributions to benefit at least one of
the the following organizations. Additionally, a representative from each organization passionately
spoke about what their organization does. Here are abbreviated versions of what they said:
A Kid Again exists to foster hope, happiness and healing for families raising kids with life threaten-
ing illnesses. It helps to restore a sense of normalcy for the family and strives to make life more like
"life" again by helping families gain back moments of solace and a sense of control over their circum-
stances. It strives to give these kids an opportunity to have fun and feel like they should the kid they
are meant to be each day. Its adventures are designed for kids to have something to look forward to,
and to give their sisters, brothers and parents some respite as well. Its network also provides resourc-
es and family network opportunities. For more information, visit www.akidagain.org.
InMotion is a nonprofit center and community located in Warrensville Heights. It serves the needs
of people with Parkinson's and other movement disorders. InMotion supports its clients and those
who care about them through education, exercise, support groups and healing arts. Our programs
are provided free of charge and open to all. The InMotion space welcomes visitors to a multipurpose
room for exercise and speaker presentations, a resource center, and small healing arts and support
group meeting rooms. For more information, visit www.beinmotion.org.
The Gathering Place, with locations in Beachwood and Westlake, offers a wide variety of free
programs and services to those touched by cancer. When you give to The Gathering Place you're
helping to support individuals and families in our communities who are touched by cancer. Its free
programs and services help Northeast Ohio families, neighbors, colleagues and friends cope with
the emotional, spiritual, physical and social impact of a cancer diagnosis. For more information, visit
