Montefiore Tribute Brunch Raises Funds For New In-Home Memory Care Program and Honors Outgoing President and CEO Lauren Rock
M
ontefiore honored the 8-year legacy of outgoing President and CEO Lauren B. Rock and raised $120,000 at Montefiore, Memories & Mimosas, a benefit brunch held last month at Executive Caterers at Landerhaven. A sold-out crowd of 400 guests enjoyed mimosas, appetizers and a delicious brunch while listening to musician Daniel Bankhurst on acoustic guitar in the background. All came to honor Rock’s dedicated service to Montefiore and the community and her commitment to enhancing services for those with memory issues. Guests heard from event co-chairs Mary Ann and Gary Shamis, Marti and Jeffrey Davis, Judy and Steve Willensky and Andrew Hoffmann, along with
remarks from Montefiore board chair Larry Mack. Montefiore’s Carol Weiss, vice president of human resources and planning, spoke on behalf of Montefiore’s administrative council and the tribute planning committee and presented Rock with an exquisite oil painting, entitled Jerusalem, by artist Shulamit Near. A heartwarming tribute video was shown, produced by Steve Hacker, that honoroed Rock’s many contributions over her past 35 years in the healthcare industry and highlighted her many accomplishments at Montefiore and The Weils. The video featured Rock’s family, friends and colleagues. Montefiore’s new in-home memory care program is designed to assist individuals and families in navigating available
services and providing social work and nursing support. The initial funding for the program came from grants from the LeadingAge Innovation Fund
and the William J. and Dorothy K. O’Neill Foundation to introduce this new in-home memory support program to the community.
